Pros and Cons of BloggingZoom.com

It has been a few weeks since my post about the new social networking site bloggingzoom.com that has recently started. I wasn’t sure how it was going to work since it is kind of like Digg, but my opinion is more in favor of this than it ever has been.

Introduction to BloggingZoom.com

BloggingZoom.com is the creation of Courtney Tuttle and Vic, two bloggers that wanted an alternative to Digg and the other social sites that would actually help bloggers. Have you ever posted what you thought would be a great article on Digg, only to have it buried and slammed by the population of Diggers? I have, and it almost seems like a waste of time to try submitting things.

BloggingZoom.com is different because it actual is helping bloggers by recommending that they submit their own articles to the site. This allows for better Search Engine Optimization of both bloggingzoom.com and the individual bloggers site by providing back-links. An increase in site traffic is also reported among numerous bloggers due to bloggingzoom.com.

Here are some of the pros and cons of bloggingzoom.com that I have seen in the last couple of weeks since first submitting an article. I hope that you check out bloggingzoom.com for yourself if you are a blogger looking to expand your contacts and readership.

The cons

Going contrary to popular lists on blogging sites, I want to give you the cons of bloggingzoom.com first.

  • BZ requires a 350 word excerpt on the article to allow for submission to the site. This is for SEO benefits as to avoid duplicate content, however it can cause some frustration and delays in submitting articles.
  • The excerpts on the front page of the Published and Upcoming posts can sometimes be to short to allow for a good understanding of the article. This is also a problem of optimizing your first sentence or two by the authors for maximum effect.
  • ummm…well…I think that was it.

The Pros

  • Easy article submissions
  • Loads quickly compared to digg…am I the only person that experiences slow or misloads in digg?
  • Bloggers are encourage to submit their own articles
  • There seems to be a good amount of class and respect on the site by the contributors and viewers
  • Increased exposure for your articles
  • Increase in site traffic and subscribers
  • Their button is cooler than diggs

In conclusion

I hope you like the comparison, as there really hasn’t been any problems that I have experienced using bloggingzoom.com yet. It seems that Court and Vic are keeping up on the site with any issues that arise.

As for my traffic since joining, bloggingzoom.com has brought me 25 visitors so far. That might not seem like much, but every bit helps. Considering that I was averaging around 100 visits per day, adding 2 more per day has also increased my RSS subscriptions, and my comments.

I have found several great sites by using bloggingzoom.com so far too. Like I said, this is a site where the blogger is encouraged to submit their own articles, so finding great stuff on the site is easy to do.

Don’t take my word for it, go give bloggingzoom.com a test drive yourself. I’d love to hear what you have to say about it also, so stop back by and let me know!

The interface for BloggingZoom.com is really user friendly, and is clean and crisp in its appearance. Navigation through the site is easy and it loads quickly.

Court, you’re welcome! Thanks for the great site also. I hope it continues to do as well as it does, because I like it better than a couple (nameless) other ones!

  3. I just signed up for blogging zoom myself. I like the idea but the 350 character preview got my stumped to why my submission wasn’t getting accepted 😛

    Thomas,

Glad to see you signed up! Yes, the 350 word minimum for the post can be quite tricky to meet, but you will learn to catch the hang of it. It has given me a good traffic boost also!

    Welcome aboard!

I signed up for this site and find it as good as you mentioned in your article. However, I can’t seem to access the site today and yesterday.

BloggingZoom was hacked and the server was down, but it should be back up with a new look. There still might be some bugs to work out of the system, so if you still can’t log in within a couple of days, you might want to try to re-register.
