WidgetBucks launches International CPM ads

I have just received an email notifying me that WidgetBucks is now publishing International CPM ads. In a post by problogger.com’s Darren Rowse, WidgetBucks CEO Matt Hulett announced that WidgetBucks was going to stop monetizing non-US traffic.

Earn $$ with WidgetBucks!

The problem this created was if your blog has any type of international traffic, non-US or Canadian, then you weren’t going to get the commissions or per click revenue from WidgetBucks.

This has now changed, and it is simple to implement.

Here is the email, verbatim that I received this morning:

Dear WidgetBucks Publishers,

As mentioned in our email at the end of November, today we have successfully launched International CPM ads to be included in our Widgets.

We are now serving CPM ads to the non-U.S./Canada traffic. This will give you revenue, per impression, for your site visitors who come from other countries. This is designed to help publishers who have a blend of traffic from a variety of countries.

Our system will do the geo-location for you, determining where the visitor is coming from. Then we’ll either show the regular pay-per-click widget (to visitors from the U.S. and Canada) or show an ad that pays per impression (to visitors from other countries).

To get started, you will need to log into your WidgetBucks account and re-copy the Widget code under “My Widgets”. After you replace the code on your site, the widget will update ad types automatically.

Pretty simple! If you aren’t familiar with WidgetBucks, look in my sidebar. It is the rotating ad that shows the cameras, laptops, etc. There are lots of different combinations and styles for your site, and a good selection of categories too.

It’s free to sign up, with no traffic minimums, so check out WidgetBucks today and see if it can benefit your site.

  2. For users with a number of non-US visitors, I’ve scripted a quick way to filter these and display alternate ads. It’s not foolproof, but it can reduce the number of lower-paying CPM ads you show.

I’m using it to replace CPM ads with referral banners (which may generate more over the long run).

    Martin,

Thanks for sharing that, I’ll have to give it a shot and see what happens.
