Walkin Tub Research and Accessible Home Designs
Posted on Jan 26, 2008 in Knowledge
One of the problems my wife and I are facing is with our daughter Natalie getting bigger. As we are in the planning stages for a handicapped accessible home, one of our biggest concerns is the bathroom for her.
I was searching around for roll in tubs and showers, and found this really neat site with cool walkin tubs that I had never seen before.
The walkin tubs are pretty cool, and a neat idea that I hadn’t seen anywhere before. They are almost like those hot tubs and whirlpools, but they have this neat door that will let you walk into it, and close the door for your bath.
The nice thing I can see about these tubs is the fact that you can walk into it and not have to step in or out of it and possibly slip or fall. That is a huge concern for us with an 8 year old special needs child. Now we wouldn’t be able to let her use this on her own without a special seat installed, but just the theraputic value of the whirlpool jets on her tight muscles would be great.
The product line is pretty impressive too, I might add. The variety of tubs they have is pretty cool and we are seriously considering getting one in our new house. Take a look at the different tubs if you are thinking about a whirlpool type tub. I think these would be great for older people too.
Have any of you ever built an accessible home or know of resources for them? I could really use some guidance on resources, especially for kids in wheelchairs, hoyer lift systems and elevators for homes.
